In 2017, Hong Kong sent 3,990 students to Canada, making the 16th largest source of students to Canada.

Hong Kong is a leading education hub in the region. Opportunities abound in the education and training sector, ranging from playgroups and kindergartens to international schools and higher education institutions, as well as from leisure learning to professional and vocational training centres.

According to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Hong Kong was the 16th largest source of students to Canada in 2017, with 3,990 students.

Opportunities exist in education software, multimedia content, and administration and management software. Training needs for the civil service in Hong Kong is also an area of interest for Alberta institutions.

The Hong Kong SAR government has rolled out an initiative in 2018, to include creativity and design thinking as key elements of training programs for directorate officers. Training on creativity and problem-solving capability will be stepped up by the Civil Service Training and Development Institute. The government will proactively work with key public service provider, to redesign their workflow and their communication channels with the public, through effective application of design thinking in a bid to further enhance efficiency and meet the public’s needs.
